| | Before this year, I never ran more than 5 miles and that was in High School. At the beginning of this year, when I started training for the Wasatch Back my long runs were 2.5-3 miles walking every other block, and I felt the same as I did today after my 10 mile, in which I would run for 4 minutes and walk for 1 minute. It's a great feeling that I have come so far. |
| |
| | Because I ran more than I have ever ran in my life, on Saturday I decided to make today an easy recovery day. I went to the track and did two miles, walking every other lap. Even with that little bit my legs were protesting, but hey you do what you can, rite? |
| |
| | I acctually walked most of this. After running 10 miles on Saturday then only getting about 5 hours of sleep Saturday night and 6 hours on Sunday night I could hardly get my self to move. |
|
| | I was able to run a little more of the 2 miles today, but my legs have been hurting like crazy. They finally strated loosening up towards the end of my run. Perhaps tomarrow I'll be able to run a little farther. |
| |
| | My legs felt looser today, and for the most part running felt realy good. I've been dealing with shin splints all year, and I can't seem to get rid of them. They fade for awhile and then flair up again. Most days (all day) I have a dull ache in my lower legs, and when I run or just after I finish running I have a painful burning sensation on the inner side of my shins. I've tried getting new shoes, resting and cross training (swimming), ice baths, and stretching before and after my run, and they just won't go away. Anyone have any other ideas? |

Top of Utah Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 02:42:37 | | I did it! I finished a half marathon. It took me 2 hours 42 minutes and 37 seconds. I know that sounds slow to a lot of you guys but it's a huge accomplishment for me. I'm so excited that I was able to reach this goal. It was olny last year that I thougt I'd never enjoy running, but I'm learning to love it. I think however that I'm going to take two weeks off of running and do some cross training to let my legs heal. |
| |
| | As I said I'm takeing a couple weeks off of running to give my body time to heal. Today I walked for 10 min. about 1/2 mile. Thats all I really had time for after getting my kids off to school and getting my self ready to go to my class. |

I've found my Monday class is to early for me to be able to get out and run so I decided to make this one of my cross training days. Today I did a short kick boxing work out with my punching bag. It's been a while sence I worked out with my bag, but it sure felt good. Hopefully I'll be able to run tomarrow. |
|
| | Today I did some cross training again. 30 min of kickboxing. Man I'm out of shape! |

I hate running in the dark, but I guess you do what you have to. 5:00 AM. seems to be the only time I'll be able to go running on week days durring school. |

30 Min Kickboxing routeen w/bag
40 crunches
20 pushups
10 leg lifts |
|
| | After just a few weeks off I feel like I'm starting all over again. Yuck! |
