It's been a long time, and man I'm feeling it. |
| |
| | Trying to keep from killing my lungs in this freezing, haze filled air has been an adventrue. |
| | Arrrg. A few weeks ago I thought I was back. Then I got broncitis, followed by pnumonia, and haven't been able to run for three weeks. It's soooo frustrating. So today I was finally able to get out again but I was able to only go a mile, and I walked most of that. It's imbarrassing to even record that small of a run, but at least I can say I got out. |
| | It felt good to get out today. I was able to run a good portion of my workout today. I hope things will continue to go well. |
| |
| |
Today my legs felt like I was wearing cement shoes. It's been hard getting my body to move, but I sure felt good when I was done. It's great to be able to get out and run again. |
| | Today felt really good. The last mile was a bit tough because it's practically all up hill, but all in all it was a good day. |
| | Wow, that felt good. On the up hills I had to take it a block at a time, but I got the distance in. I feel soooo good. I love long runs, they are so theraputic. |
| |
| | I'm starting to feel the shinsplints. I hope I can nip that in the bud. |
| | I was only able to run every other block today. My legs are killing me. I guess it's time to get out the ice. |
| | I'm recoving from yet another bout of pnumonia, so today I just went for a 20 min walk with my son in his stroller. |
| | Today I worked out with two 20 min pilatties vidios. |
| | I'm still taking it slow, but I did a 10 min warm up (walking) then did a 10 min workout where I ran for 4 min and walked for 1 min (twice.) Hopefully by next week my lungs will be totaly clear and I can begin training again in ernest. |
| | Today felt really good. I ran for four minutes and walke for one min. throughout my entire workout. |
| | My legs feel like jelly today. Time to go take an ice bath. Burrrr! |
| | Today was awfull. I couldn't get myself to move. My calfs and knees hurt and even though I got a good night sleep last night all I want to do is go back to bed. Maybe it's the weather,or maybe I just haven't been eating rite or drinking enough water. Maybe tomarrow will be better. |
| | What a beautiful day. It was so nice being able to get out and run this morning. |
| |
| | It was warm today :) It sure felt good to be able to wear shorts and a short sleeve shirt. |
| | Windy today. I didn't really feel like running today, but once I got out and going it felt good. |
| | Farthest I've run this year. :) I felt really good for my run today, but I'm feeling it now. |

Running 4 the kids 5k (3.1 Miles) 00:36:49
The day started off cloudy. As the race began it started to sprinkle, and then rain. Thank goodness I was done before the down pour. Won a $15.00 gift certificate to Idle Isle. Wohooo, free date night. :) |
| | I didn't drink enough water this moring. By the time I got halfway through my workout I realized the sweat on my face was dry and I wasn't producing any more. Soon my head began to hurt. I finished the workout the best I could, but I think it would have gone alot better if I wasn't dehydrated. Wooops. |
| |
I ran for about 25 min this morning and again for 26 min this afternoon, in training for the wasatchback relay. Running twice in one day seemed to make me more tired and sore than when I ran for 80 min strait. |
| | Today was one of those day's I had to force myself to get out and run. I felt better menatly when I got done, even if not physically. |
| |
| | Felt good to get out and run today. |
| |
Today I woke up with a sore throat and a headache. I was going to wait until evening because Matt was running the Ogden Marathon, but because I wasn't feeling all that great I decided I wanted to just get this run over with. I was suposed to run for 100 min. At about mile 6 I was wondering if I was going to make it, but I pushed through it, thanks to Matt's help with bringing me water. I was able to run 8 miles in 1hr 40 min and 16 sec. For as crappy as I felt all day I'm pretty proud of making it. |
| | I decided I wanted to get my run in before it got to hot, so I put my son in the stroller and headed out at about 8:45. I was supposed to run for 45 min. I got home in about 42 min and decided that was close enough. Today I walked alot of my course because the stroller plus my 40lb kid makes it more difficult to run for long periods of time. Also my left calf and achilies tendon are quite sore, so I took it easy. |
| |
| | Had a good run today. I ran more and walked less today and still felt really good. By the time I was done I was pretty worn out though. |
| |
| | I made it. I was suposed to go for 2 hrs. In that time I ran 9.6 miles while running 4 min and walking 1 min. for the entire 2hrs. I used gue for the first time today. Good thing I had a lot of water. That is some sticky stuff! |
| |
| | I ended up walking most of my workout today. My legs are still sore from Saturday's run. |
| | I just don't know how Matt runs with the stroller. I tried again today, I ran every other block for the first 1 1/2 - 2 miles, and just walked the rest of the time. Just getting myself out this week has been difficult, but I went. |
| | I did a 60 min workout today. It felt so good. I've gone up to running 6 min at a time and walking 1 min. I don't know if this has helped my speed any, but my endurance sure has improved. |
| | Today I did two workouts. This morning I ran for 30 min, and tonight I ran for 35 min. I'm suppose to run two more times tomarrow for 35 min each time, but by the end of my run tonight my shin splints were killing me so I think I'll take tomarrow off. |
| | Today I ran 5 miles, and tonight I spent two hours at a martial arts class. Wow I'm beat! |
| | I'm not much of a blogger, and I won't go into a lot of detail. This entry is for my first two legs of the wasatchback relay. It was alot of fun and I had a great team. My first leg (6.7 miles) I felt really good, and I beleive I came in faster that my predicted time. My second leg (3 miles) I felt a little more sluggish, but I was still feeling pretty good, and felt good about my time. |
| | My last leg of the Wasatchback relay was tough. I started out with a side ach, and it just wouldn't go away. I had only gotten about an hour and a half of sleep, if that much, and my legs just were refusing to move. Finally in the last half mile my side strated feeling better and I was able to finish pretty good. Up till then our team was running about 20 min ahead of what we predicted, but I'm afraid I slowed us way down. Sorry guys. The team did come in at about the time that our pace calculater said we should. I'm really greatful that I was able to be a part of this team. I had a lot of fun. |
| | This is a recovery week. I did run some, but most of my workout was walking. I will get back to my regular tainging next week. |
| | I just walked today. I'm still recovering from the relay. |
| | My legs and lungs felt really good today. I did a 90 min workout with a 8-10 min warmup. |
| |
| | It felt good to get out this morning. I got stopped by a train for a few minutes. It was a little difficult to get going again after that, but I kept going and was soon back on track. |
| | After running, then boating, and then martialarts class yesterday I'm surprized I was even able to move today. However, once I got moving it wasn't to bad. |
| |
| |
I felt good today. It was overcast, but still very warm. It began to sprinkle when I was about 45 minutes into my run and that felt really good. Unfortunatley it didn't last very long :) |
| | I ran a few different loops using my house as a water spot. I was supposed to do a 1hour and 45 min workout. I missed my last 2 or 3 min, and ended up walking the last 20 min of what I did get in. I didn't get to bed the night before until 12:00, and then my family and I spent the day walking around the Hill Air Force Musium. So, when I went to go run I was already tired, and I just compleatly ran out of energy. I wonder if usuing a gue would have helped. I'll have to try it next week for my 2 hour run. |
| | My legs were pretty stiff this morning, but I pushed through it and finished my workout. Today I ran 6 minuts to one min of walking. |
| | When I started out today my legs were so stiff and hurt so bad, so I ended up walking most of my workout today, but I'm still counting them as miles because I didn't just give up and go home even though I so badly wanted to. |
| |
| | I felt a lot better today and was able to run 6 minutes to 1 minute of walking for my entire workout. At 45 minutes into my workout I used a Gue. I think that made a great difference. I barrowed my husbands Garmen today and found out that I was able to run a sub 12 minute mile for most of my workout. I know that doesn't sound like much of an accomplishment, but it is for me. Here are my splits. Mile 1 11:39 Mile 2 11:58 Mile 3 12:04 Mile 4 11:26 Mile 5 11:44 Mile 6 11:52 Lap 7 (0.81 miles) 9:22 (averaging a 11:30 mile) Like I said, I know this is dead slow to most of you, but it shows improvement on my part. Hopefully both my time and endurance will continue to improve.
| | Today was a really short run. I averaged an 11:14 mile. |
| Race: |
Mantua Dam Race (4.6 Miles) 00:51:15
I took about 3 minutes off last years time. Wooohooo!
My splits are as follows
Mile 1/ 10:45
Mile 2/ 11:14
Mile 3/ 11:28
Mile 4/ 11:14
Lap 5/ (.62 mile) 6:36 (averaging 10:36 mile) |
| |
| | My rite leg was really sore today. I pulled a couple muscles (groin and hip-flexer) during the race on Saturday, so today I just walked for my workout. Even with just walking, by the time I was done my leg was burning, so I took an ice-bath. Burrrr. |
| | I did a warm up, but my leg hurt so bad I decided it was probably counter productive to keep running on it so I decided to give it a rest for today. Hopefully by tomarrow it will be better, and I'll be able to get back to running. |
| | My leg is still feeling painful so I decided to cross train by riding a bike. I am not a great biker as it is, but about two miles into my ride the chain falls off, and I don't know how to fix it. It's a good thing I was riding different loops that ended back at my house because I had to walk the bike home. |
| | I had Matt look at the bike last night, and had him teach me how to put the chain back on. This morning when I went for my ride the chain fell off three times in less that five minutes. I GIVE UP! I'll try running again on Monday. |
| | My leg felt a lot better today. I started off to hard though and ended up walking the last five min. |
| | I didn't get much sleep last night. I had a hard time getting to sleep and then at 2:00 I woke up and tossed and turned until Matt's alarm went off at 4:00. I should have just got up, but I kept trying to get some sleep. Finally at around 6:30 I driffed off and slept til about 8:30. By the time I got out for my run it was hot hot hot. I felt like I had no energy. I ran 5 min and walked one for most of my workout, but in the end the heat and lack of good sleep caught up to me and I ended up walking the last five minutes. |
| |
| | Took it pretty easy today. Just a 20 min workout. |
| | Today was great! I was out the door by 6:45 did a warm-up and ran for an hour and twenty minutes. I felt better today after my run than all the rest of this week. Guess I should get up early more often. :) |
| | My rite upper leg and hip were pretty sore today so I walked about 80% of my workout today. |
| |
| | Matt and I went on a vacation to Lake Powell this last week. We got home Saturday and today I woke up and still felt like I was on the boat. I went out for my run hoping it would help get rid of that feeling. However, instead of helping it just seemed to make it worse. I felt like I was trying to run while the road was moving up and down. After the first 10 minutes I was so dizzy and sick to my stomach that I decided to walk. I'm more sea sick on dry ground than I ever was on the water. Ahhhhh! |
| | When I started out this morning there was a light sprinkle. By the time I got to my 4th mile the rain was coming down in buckets, and it was cold! I thought to myself "hey I get to ice my leg and run at the same time :)" Actually really enjoyed the rain. I'm probably the only person in the world that hopes it rains (at least part of the time, preferably later in the day) for the St. George marathon. |
| | Didn't run today. But got in 2 hours of knife fighting in martial arts. Thats quite a workout. |
| |
Tried to run today but my hip hurt so bad. I just gave-up and came home and cried. I hate it when my body doesn't work for me the way I want it to. I did get in another good 2 hour workout at martial arts.
| | I decided I'd give running a break and see if I can get my hip to feel better, so I walked for 20 min. and got in 1.2 miles of walking. |
| | What a crappy week. I don't know whether I have a cold or just really bad allergies, but my throat hurts and I can't breath very well, but I was determined to get some kind of workout in. I got out for 30 min. I did a combination of walk/run until my hip started hurting, and then I finished by walking the rest of the time. I hope next week will be better. I have the TOU half to run next Saturday. |

| Race: |
TOU 1/2 Marathon (13.1 Miles) 02:35:12
I really enjoyed the race today. I was a little nervous going into it because of the way my hip has been feeling, but thankfully it didn't give me any problems today. I wasn't sure how much I'd be able to improve on my time from last year, but I just took it one step at a time. As I got to the last few miles of the race I was surprized at how much energy I still had. I was able to finish strong and actually ended up taking over 7 minutes off my time. That made be feel great! I'm far far far from fast, but here are my splits any way. 10:53 11:43 11:44 11:44 11:01 10:57 11:35 11:47 12:00 12:21 12:11 12:56 11:57 9:16

| |
| | The only running I got in today was at my Dynamic Fitness lab. We ran 1/2 mile warm up, and then did "strides" from goal post to goal post (on the HPER Field at USU) 6 times. I also got in 1 hour of Martial arts training.
| | Started off pretty good. My hip wasn't feeling to bad. However by the time I got to the end of the workout my hip was beginning to hurt, and I was just plain exhausted. I ended up walking about 85% of the workout. |
| | I'm not really sure how far I ran today. For my class we ran a 1/2 mile warm up, then some other warm up exercises. We then jogged from the HPER field to the ticket office at the stadium. There at the stadium we did hill intervals. I don't know how long the hill was or how many times I went back up it. Then we jogged back to the HPER field. I was pretty beat by the time class was over. |
| | Felt good for most of my run. By the end I was starting to feel it. When I was 2 miles away from being done I ran into a friend and we chatted for awhile. Those last two miles were difficult just because I had stopped for so long my body figured it was done. |
| | I felt really good today. I think my hip is on the mend. Yay. I love feeling my body getting stronger. |
| | Today was tough. I felt like I had no energy. Of course that could be that I only got 4 and 1/2 hours of sleep last night. Oh-well, I pushed though it and finished the run. |
| | I'm not exactly sure how far I actually ran today. In my fitness class I did a half mile warm-up, then jogged from the field house to Old Main. We gathered at some trees that were close to the bottom of Old Main and ran up to some other trees that were about 50 meters higher on the hill. I ran 7 circuits. In between each circuit we did different strength exercises. (push-ups, skip and scoop, down-ups, mountain climbers, hip lifts, and reverse crunches.) I had to walk some of the circuits. Once we were done with the circuits we jogged back to the field house. Needless to say, I was pretty beat by the time we were done.
I really should start taking the Garmin to school so I can keep track of exactly how far I run.
| | Did a half mile warm-up. Then ran from the Field House to the sidewalk between the spectrum and the HPER field, up to the cemtery, around the cemetery, and back to the Field House. I felt pretty good today, and really enjoyed the run. |
| | I had Matt drop me off at Dry Lake. I ran from there to Mantua where I took a pit stop. Then I ran from Mantua back to our house. That was about 11 miles. I still had an hour left to run, and just ran around town. I ended up walking most of the last mile, by that time my legs were pretty dead. I'm going to have to plan very carefully if I'm going to survive the marathon. |

| | I ran a half mile warm-up. Then I ran 2 miles up on campus. |
| | Did 4.2 miles on the treadmill. I recently joined a gym, because any time I run in the cold weather I get sick, and I'm bound and determined not to let my fitness slip again this year. I don't want to have to completely start over again in the spring. The workout felt really good!

| | Went to the gym and ran on the treadmill. The stupid thing stopped automatically after 30 minutes. After running I went and lifted weights for awhile. We'll see how sore I am tomorrow. I stretched for quite awhile so hopefully that will help. |
